Abstract:
Montana's townships, including townships "protracted" through unsurveyed areas by the BLM or Forest Service. These features were digitized by the Bureau of Land Management from 1:100,000 scale maps. The Montana State Library combined the individual quadrangles into a single layer, edgematched the features, and populated the attribute fields.

Digitize the lines from the USGS mylar maps and code the arcs and polygons. This was performed by the BLM office in Billings using ADS software on their PRIME minicomputer.

Correct the projection definition of all BLM data and convert any single-precision coverages to double precision. Project coverages from UTM zone 12 coordinates to Albers.
